Louis Marneweck
National Leader and founder of the Christian Party
Background
Louis was born in Standerton and grew up on the farm Mispah, where he and his family is still residing. He attended schools in Standerton and furthered his studies in Pretoria where he qualified as a teacher. As student he received Full Colours for Leadership. He started his teaching career in Standerton.
He left teaching to join a banking group where he advanced to management positions. After a merger between banks he joined a brokerage where he acted as financial broker. He is also a qualified estate agent, and also did articles at an attorney's firm. He obtained a Certificate in Criminal Law from UNISA and is currently busy with studies towards completing a LLB. Degree at UNISA.
He always had a passion for his community which he served in various capacities on different committees of civic organisations in his community. In 1994 he became part of the Standerton Local Government Negotiating Forum who had to negotiate a Municipal model for the pre-interim face of local government, this was the first time that all the communities would sit down and talk to each other.
In 1995 he was elected as a councillor where he served as Member of the Executive Committee until 2000. He also served as a representative of the Council on the Pension Fund for Municipal Councillors and various other forums. He was also elected as a Councillor of the Oos Vaal District Council representing Standerton.
He also served as Chairperson of the Standerton Community Policing Forum and as an officer in the Standerton Commando. He gained extensive political experience in the management of a political party in serving in various positions from branch level up to provincial leader and also at national level in the Freedom Front under genl Constand Viljoen and Dr Pieter Mulder.
In 2003 he became a member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, where he still serves. In 2004 he was elected as Chairperson of the Select Committee on Public Accounts, which does oversight on all provincial departments, Public entities and municipalities. He is currently the Leader of the Christian Party in the Legislature.

- Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Land Affairs, Economic Development and the Environment ;
- Portfolio Committee on Roads, Transport and Public Works;
- Long standing member of the Porfolio Committees for Health & Social Work and Local Government and Housing;
- Member of the Executive Committee of the Mpumalanga Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association;
- Whips Forum;
- Rules Committee;
- Budget Task Team that deals with the Legislature Budget;
- Budget Committee that deals with the Provincial Budget;
- Various Ad hoc Committees appointed by the Speaker to draft legislation on various matters;
- Member of the Provincial Election Liasson Committee;
- Appointed by the Premier of Mpumalanga on the Provincial Committee of the African Peer Review Mechanism;
- Member of the Association of Public Accounts Committees of South Africa where he serves as a member of the Council of Delegates;
- Also represented Mpumalanga on the Southern African Development Countries Association of Public Accounts Committees at various conferences held in Africa;
- Represented Mpumalanga Legislature at the 49th Commonwealth Conference held in Bangladesh and also at the 39th Commonwealth Conference for the Africa Region in Capetown;
- Represented Mpumalanga at the National Conference for State Legislators in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA;
- Was appointed to represent South Africa as Observer to Zimbabwe during the 2005 National Elections;
- Visited the following countries as part of official Mpumalanga delegations: South Korea, Japan, Ireland, Uganda, Namibia, Mozambique, Madagascar & Zanzibar. Acted as co-leader of the delegation that visited Ireland and Uganda.
Louis is married to Ronél and they have three children Pieter, Denél and Jana.

Louis is member of the Standerton Baptist Church where he serves as leader and is responsible for the portfolio on Evangelisation. He also serves on the financial committee of the church.
